Which RAW software (converter) are you using?
Which one's currently handle files from the RD-1s?

I find Epson's own SW quite useful.
Though as one - for any reason - handles more than one type of RAWs, the question definitely not so simple. At least I try to use one for all.
The Pixmantec's Essentials worked well for me - until I bought a GRd. (BTW Ricoh doesn't serve with sw at all.)
PS seems to be a general solution - but it's pricy.
So I had to look for something different.
Adobe's other solution - Lightroom - seems to work well. As it is beta this time, it's costless until January. After that? Depends on price.

If you just have an R-D1 then use the Epson software - I find it ideal as a starting point for the workflow. If you have multiple digital sources then Photoshop plus Adobe Camera Raw makes sense...

My 2 cents : if you use Adobe's free DNG converter, you can open Epson files in a lot of different softwares ;-)
I came to this solution since IviewMediaPro doesn't recognize ERF files
As raw converter, I use Adobe CS2 Camera Raw. I am also testing (thxs to the dng converter) LightZone, wich I find very interesting.
Hope this help,
David

I like the new version of the Epson program but my favorite for the R-D1 is Capture One DSLR.

If you use Mac OS X take a look at Raw Developer from Irident digital, it works extremely well with R-D1 Raws.

Are these working now with the newer 'S' version RAW files?

Yes, R-D1s is supported.

You're giving out misleading and inaccurate information.
Capture One Pro still doesn't support RD1s RAW files, as I found out after I bought it.
I've sent them a couple of files (as requested) so they can hopefully get up to speed.

Sean, I seem to remember you liked the Epson program for b/w conversions?sreidvt said:I like the new version of the Epson program but my favorite for the R-D1 is Capture One DSLR.

I've found the Epson b/w conversions are much noisier than C1, but more grain-like, and I prefer them for the higher ISOs when I don't want to hide the noise. Could you say a bit about your b/w workflow?
cheers

I was referring to Raw Developer, I didn't even mentioned CaptureOne.
Why the harsh attitude ?

MarcoS: Yes, R-D1s is supported.
*As in, the RAW software members had recommended to me in the thread.
It would have been handy if you'd qualified your answer with the information you were only talking about Raw Developer.

Ok, my fault, sorry.
Hope you didn't buy CaptureOne based solely on my response !
You did try it before, didn't you ?!
I use Raw Developer for my R-D1 Raws and they listed the R-D1s as supported.
After your post I read the C1 supported Raw list and indeed they mention only the R-D1.
Anyway I tried CaptureOne and it reads my "firmware updated" R-D1 without problems.
R-D1s Raw file should be the same, as the only difference between the two models is the in the firmware (or am I wrong again ?).
Maybe it's only a reference tag in the Raw which now has an "s" added.
If so I guess it would be quite easy for PhaseOne to update their support.
Sorry again Chris for my misunderstanding.

Chris, we've been through this one before and there's a solution, see: http://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25435chrisso said:You're giving out misleading and inaccurate information.

I'd suggest you PM Wintoid and ask if you can have a copy of the code. That should get you going until C1 gets sorted.
I'm not sure if Adobe's DNG converter supports the RD-1s if it does, converting to DNG first may be an alternative.
Bob.

I use it to catalog r-D1s files within IviewMedia Pro

Unfortunately the firmware update does not tag the files with an RD-1s signature, they're still identified as being produced by an RD-1. That's why files from my updated RD-1 still work with C1.

Thanks guys.
Yes Marco, I'd read on the forum that Capture One didn't support the RD1s files, but that at least one member was forwarding files to Phase One. When I read your answer, I mistakenly assumed the glitsch had been ironed out.
Anyway, onward and upward.......
I've been having some very friendly correspondance with a chap at Phase One in Denmark. Yesterday I emailed 1 x B&W and 1 x Colour RAW file (from my RD1s) to him.
This morning he says they are including RD1s RAW support in the next software update (available tomorrow).
It is as yet not thoroughly tested, so they are not going to publicise it for now.
I'll let you know if it works.
