Which scanner has roll film feeder?

Basically, I need a dedicated film and slide scanner with a roll film adapter that works. Prefer to stay downwards of $500 so an old LS-2000 could (?) fit the bill. But I am hearing that its roll film adapter is no good/impractical to use.

Sorry to bring up yet another scanner question, but finding one that does well with roll film (not just strips) is proving to be difficult. Would greatly appreciate any suggestions.

Nikon Coolscan 5000ED at around $1K with the SA-30 35mm Roll film Adapter at around $450. I know this is way out of your budget, but its an excellent scanner and the roll film feeder works well. Save some pennies and look for used. Don't know of any other.

Ouch... the 5000ED sure is pricey. Guess will have to hunt around.

Don't know about America, but scanners hold their value very well here in the UK - I ended up buying a new Nikon LS50 because even old LS-2000 were going for around £300 on eBay.

I've been doing a little research on my own for just such a thing (scanner + rollfilm adapter) and the PrimeFilm units have come up several times. Very, very affordable...and that's what makes me nervous.

It's been difficult finding editorial comments on the PF units, and the ones I've seen are split in their opinions. Bill, your link is the first one where I've seen how the PF "sucks" in the film from the side. Kinda neat, but there's little in the way of "gentle" handling of the film. The SA-30, mentioned above, keeps the film "captive" for the most part.

I'd still be willing, though, to hear more about the PF Pro3. I guess I'm just cheap. Or, perhaps lazy. Or, perhaps both.
