Which SD card is fastest?

I'm currently using a Lexar Extreme II 2 GB card. It works fine but the write time seems excessively long to me for each shot. And of course, you can't view the shot until it's done downloading to card. I need opinions on what SD card is the best/fastest for the M8.

I second that notion.
IIRC the Extreme III cards are the fastest around, so the limit might just very well be in the camera.

It also depends a lot if one writes just DNG or DNG+Jpegfine. But what does it matter? One can carry on shooting during the writing.

Until the buffer is full. I must say, that doesn't happen quickly. Only when I'm shooting hi iso long exposure shots.

I use a 2GB ATP and a 4GB Patriot Memory card. Both are very fast (I think they're at least 80x), and they work just fine. Browsing is quick, and downloading to my computer is a snap. 🙂

I either use DNG (plain) or JPEG fine (for the high ISOs), btw.

Part of the red blnking many not just be the camera downloading at all- the camera may still be thinking about the shot?

Only when I'm shooting hi iso long exposure shots.

On long exposure (1/30?) shots the NR kicks in and things do slow down a lot. This is "dark frame subtraction" so the camera takes two images and fools around with them.

I also think it's the limit of the camera's write speed, but since it has a buffer it doesn't bother me at all. It's only an issue if you like to chimp right away after each single shot. I actually have the review turned off. It's distracting to the flow of shooting.

That's probably it - the chimping. Seems I have to wait for it to come up if I want to check the exposure. Kind of suspected the older card (Sandisk II) was the culprit. Thanks for all the help.
