Well, I can only guess the answer to this 🙂

So,

Now that I have been taken to the cleaners by a scammer, I need to sell some things.

I huess I should let you know what my future plans are.

I will stay with Leica. I like the optics too much. I would like to do digital with some great results. Knowing this, what would you sell.

Leica MP with, 21 apo, 35 apo, 90 apo

OR

Leica R8 with 19mm 2.8 and 28-90 apo.

One of these must go since I need to recover my financial loss.

well, isn't the MP setup worth more? it seems that it would be. The R series doesn't seem to move down at the shop.

Jorge, not to try to tell you what to do, but my answer is "none of the above".

If some creep like that took me for $7+ kilobucks, I would be the squeakiest wheel that Ebay, Paypal, the credit card company, and the US Postal Service (or UPS or DHL or whatever) ever saw! I would look into filing criminal (fraud) charges against the creep, and yes, he can be traced if somebody really wanted to, with Ebay and Paypal as co-respondents. I would also look into civil claims against all of the above. If you in any way paid with a credit card, I would contest that charge and jump over heads at each rebuff.

Despite all of the disclaimers and indifference, you will eventially find somebody who will listen and take action. You may have to make a lot of noise and jump over some heads in the process, but I'm certain it can be done!

That's what I would do, anyway.

(And people wonder why I refuse to use PayPal!)

I'd part with the R8.. the MP is destined to be a future classic.. I doubt the R8 will ever attain that level and will be fairly easy to replace later

I have sold most my 35 mm slr gear and keept my M cameras - ecept for one EOS house for my Tele and Macro - but if I want to do critical Macro work I use my Hasselblads large neg. format so I am close to selling of the last canon gear to - Jorge Keep the MP and lenses - and sell the R8 while you can still get a nice $.
I am sad to hear that you still have not resolved the matter with paypal
I will suggest something in a new thread please read that everyone !!!!!

I deleted my earlier post as I realised it was in poor taste. Were I you, I might sell the one I'd regret least. Sure the MP will fetch more, but it might make this whole expereince even more painful to have to part with it as a result.

I really hope that things begin to look up, and I hope the bastard who scammed you gets nailed...

Jorge,

you write that you need to recover your loss, but I fail to understand how selling either the MP or R8 achieves that. Selling one or the other may raise some cash, but at the expense of letting gear go.. it doesn't bring back money that you already set aside for purchasing a DSLR..

If you need some money to buy a DSLR anyway, then let the R8 go. You can live without a film-SLR, but you'll regret selling the MP the moment it goes out the door..

I'd definitely keep the MP outfit and let the R kit go. With a DSLR you can do all the things you could do with the R8. Selling the MP would leave you with two systems for the same purposes.

Cheers
Thomas-Michael
