Who Bought The $399 M3

If the glass was scratched and the shutter curtains wrinkled it was not such a good deal. Who can tell from the photo?

I'm with Rich. Just a bad gut feeling about that auction. I would not waste 400 bucks and change.

From his scantily worded description, the guy obviously knows about cameras. He has bid on 5 DSLR's in the past week, and won a 10D yesterday. He also knows about light seals and old style self-timers, so acquainted with mechanical cameras.

For someone who knows cameras, my concern is that he is hiding or omitting things in both the description and photo.

No mention of the RF, VF. The phrases "appears to" and "seems to" coupled with AS-IS.

If you were to take one photo of a camera for sale, it would be of the front.

No mention whatsoever of the lens, condition etc.

What's with the "missing bayonet ring?"

Light seals need replacing is shorthand for "this needs a major overhaul."

And someone digital savvy can be expected to at least google an appropriate price for an M3 and a summicron (is that a 90mm?). He wanted a quick, no questions, as-is sale.

🙂
And last, but not least, a google search on the unique name 'dedlotus' and new mexico or albuquerque turned out ONE hit...

Ladies and gentlemen...

DEDLOTUS

I rest my case 😉

Don't waste any emotions on an ebay deal that may or may not have been great.

No emotions, Raid. Just passing time. I just got out of the hot tub and am waiting for people to arrive for Christmas dinner. With all the snow before I left Connecticut, Christmas here seems surreal.
