Who can service a J8?

I have a pretty nice J8 that I don't use because I have so many nice 50s. However, my brother would definitely get some use out of this lens on his Bessa R, since its faster than his 50/2.5 Skopar. Anyways, focus is a litte too loose and aperature adjustment isn't the best, plus I've only put it to use a couple times on a Zorki, so I have no idea how well it focuses on a Bessa. Is the cost of a CLA and focus adjustment cost prohibitive for this lens? To me it would make more sense to just pay someone to get this one working up to snuff rather than playing the ebay game with Russian sellers. How much does this sorta service usually run for a J8 and who can do it? Fedka? Any forum members with experience willing to tackle this? I can't do it myself, though. The last time I experimented with camera repairs it ended in disaster, I can work on cars, but camera stuff is just too small and precise, I don't like to mess with them.

OK, just checked Fedka.com and they do offer J8 CLA @ $35. Very reasonable IMO. Now the only thing I wonder about is whether he will adjust it so that it will focus accurately on a Bessa.

Hello !
THe J-8 is a simple lens. You may try to fix it yourself !
If the focussing is too loose, add a more thick grease on the focusing threads, and do the same to the F-stop ring.
And enjoy this little nice lens ! If there is a focussing problem on the Bessa it is more related to the different rangefinder settings than to the lens itself. But i doubt it will show on an F:2 lens not so often used at full aperture.

Sorry to sound "disposable", but for the price of a CLA on the lens you can probably buy at least one other one... I paid 7 bucks for a perfectly good (and very sharp) one, ironically (for you), bought from member 446885 on Ebay.

If you like the lens, send it to fedka. I wouldn't worry too much about the focusing issue. I think it's more urban legend than reality. A RFF member (Jocko, I think) posted test results of 4 different lenses on 4 different bodies (FSU and other) that did not support the "FSU Focus" theory. Even if the theory is correct, DOF will cover it unless you shoot wide open at 1 meter. I've also read that the difference in focusing would be so slight that it would only be noticeable at apertures greater than f2 -- again due to DOF.

I can say from my own experience that I have a J3 and a J8 that are both superb performers on my Bessa R.

Me.
But the double shipping would cost more than it's worth.:)
Oh and I can't adjust it to a Bessa, not having a Bessa myself.
