No offense, Jorge, but there's something gaudy and distracting about having a rotating Xmas tree decoration dangling over my avatar. A man purse may be one thing, but this icon is simply embarassing to wear. Even the Pnet one is nicer. Personally, this change is making me reconsider the benefits of publicly crediting premium membership. Peer pressure won't work if we all end up looking like Liberace on speed. 😀
 
I'd vote to NOT have the animation. I think it is distracting and it, if only very subconsciously, affects how we perceive eachother. We all need to be on totally equal ground - even a little spinning diamond tilts the table.

Sounds shallow and nitpicky, but it's simple human nature.
 
I know, lets have a-la-carte icons. You can order them with calf skin look or diamond. These icons will of course cost a little more. 😛 😉
 
I like the rangefinder idea ... the diamonds are OK too 🙂 It does sort of create a two tiered system though. Is it important to acknowledge the paying members? I don't care either way 😀

i'd like to take this opportunity to point out that the 25 bucks doesn't buy a premium membership.
the title of what it buys is a premium GALLERY membership.

maybe a small point for some but a large one to me.

My thinking exactly! No wonder lawyers are richer than photographers...everyone wants to question everything.
 
On second thought, here's my two cents: keep the diamond, lose the animation, like the moderators' stars (Hey, those stars make the moderators sheriffs! Or deputies at least).
 
Waitaminute, Joe...you've got a star, for Dog's sake. Maybe Kurt Vonnegut was right about life essentially being a repeat of High School. 😉
