and nikon 50/2 several years ago?
i loaded her with hp500 and replaced the meter battery this morning, and made a couple of shots. she still runs ever so lovely, and i fondly remember the smooth tones rendered by the 50/2.

someone here on the forum - perhaps from france? - gave her to me, or sold her for near nothing. i shot with her regularly, up until 5-6 years ago.

thanks,
paul

Hey, Paul! Welcome back!
I met you several years ago here in Atlanta--we had a "gathering"--if I remember correctly we went to see HCB at the High museum.
Anyway--good to see you back on RFF and hope you are in good health. Take care!
Paul

I’m under the impression that Nikomat name sold in Japan, the rest of the world, named Nikkormat. I bought mine in Subic in 1972 and it says Nikkormat.

Great camera.

Never had to send in for cla but I replaced the small rubber piece by the prism used as a bumper the mirror hits when firing the shutter.

I don't know who gave it to you, Paul, but it's certainly a nice thing to be given!

I recently purchased a Nikkormat FTn at a fairly typical market price. It was quite clean and the meter worked and it was from a reputable dealer. Before I left, the dealer pointed out that he also had a Nikomat FTn that some knucklehead had engraved their name on - right across the front in big, sloppy letters. Because of the engraving he didn't think he'd be able to sell it easily so he asked if I wanted it as a parts camera for $25. Sure, why not? I put film and a battery in it when I got home and found that it works more smoothly than the Nikkormat I bought in the first place!

So, yeah.... cheers to the gift Nikomat!

I will add my gratitude for all the members here who sold me excellent cameras and other nice items. And, my gratitude for this nice community.

Nikormat looks and sounds very, very good.

I've always had a soft spot for Nikkormats since it was my first Nikon model I ever bought. They are a nicely understated camera with just what you need, and no more.

Welcome back to RFF, Paul.
