I posted this same question on Leica Users Forum. I stated that the reasons why I have not bought the M9 are:

1: I have to wait until I pay my taxes in April

2. I want to wait into the production run so any problems with the M9 will be ironed out (I waited a year to buy my M8, and 40,000 exposures later, I am happy with NO PROBLEMS).

3. I really want the Chrome finish like on the M8. Mine has not worn AT ALL despite heavy use, and for $7 grand, we should not be dealing with a durability issue here. This camera should be just as tough as its Nikon and Canon counterparts for the price, including the finish. Leica knows what it can do best, and the lesson of how the M3 etc, were made is very relevant. GIVE ME CHROME PLEASE!!!

So who on this forum is holding out like I am for similar reasons?

No, I'd rather take pictures than wait for something that may or may not happen.

Also, many (including me) like the way that paint wears. We aren't planning on selling our cameras, and each patch of wear is a memory. Chromium, by comparison, is soulless. I have black paint cameras from Leica, Nikon, Zeiss, Pentax, Olympus and more, some acquired new, some used.

Cheers,

R

Chromium soulless ... that's a first!

You surprise me Roger! 😛

... maybe Leica are waiting to offer the chrome finish as an option ... so they can charge extra for it?

Well, I know this is going to be hard to believe, but some of us love the soul less Chrome finish as much as others love the Black or Grey paint. I know it comes as a shock, but true.
