Who Like or Hates Wristwatches?

I love wristwatches. Don't wear one anymore, decided not to be a slave of time.

I collect vintage timepieces. I enjoy honoring the important events these creations have timed in the lives of their owners - births, first dates, weddings, deaths, etc.

In some ways as important as photographs to remind one of "the times of your life" as the old Kodak advertisements (and Paul Anka) used to say.

I hate wearing wrist watches. However, its not because I feel they're obsolete. Its because I find it uncomfortable and annoying to have something wrapped around my wrist day in day out.

Cell phones made my life easier as I stopped having to estimate what time it was. I did not wear watches before cell phones.

Indifferent. Since 2003, I don't wear wrist watch - that's when I started using mobile phone.

Suggested by Jonmanjiro in another thread. Tell us what you think of watches. A lot of young people think they're obsolete thanks to cell phones and other mobile devices of the modern age. I personally hate technology and love wearing a watch. My son, age 14, is the opposite.

I neither love or hate watches. I just decided one day 10 years ago that I wasn't going to wear one any longer. I really don't have a compelling need for a watch, or to "watch" time.

I am a pretty young dude (18) but I love wearing watches. All of mine are analog. If I had the choice, I would not use a cell phone, however it is pretty necessary in today's world to own a cell phone. I just like to use it as little as possible. For watches I have found that the movado factory store during their memorial day sale has exceptionally low prices on most makes of movado watches. I go to that sale every year now and have a museum and a gentry. Other than that I love my swiss army infantry which has two hour hands for two time zones and is really useful when traveling.

I wear one all the time...do I love it..? As long as it does what its supposed to do...
I wear a simple Timex Ironman watch...they're affordable and last forever...I'm currently on my third or fourth watch in the last 20 years or so...
Now, what I don't like is a watch that doesn't stay in one place...It drives me nuts to see someone with a watch that moves up & down their arm...yuck!!!
My watchband has to be tight enough that it cannot move while I'm wearing it...
Neither of our kids wear them...not sure if they even own one...now my wife not only wears them but uses them as part of her fashion statement for the day...
A Timex Ironman will go with anything and everything I wear...

When i wear suits, a watch is a must. When im shooting, its still nice to have something that tells time that isnt my phone..

Low tech is the way to go.

You know, it used to be that one really needed to be tech savvy to be 'connected' and 'linked in'. Now I think, the real challenge is to be savvy enough to avoid technology. Those that are able to circumvent the PDA's, cell phones, social media, PC's, public cameras, etc., can be considered the really tech savvy.

I love watches. I wear mine all the time. I also have 11-12 bracelets and 9 necklaces I wear all the time as well (the lot keep growing after my several trips to Africa, India etc.).
I am hippie 😀

I've worn a wristwatch for as long as I can remember, because I find they're really good for just displaying what time it is.
Back in 1972 while in Lucerene, Switzerland I bought a Rolex Submariner which, except for when I played hockey, was never off my wrist for the next thirty years. I eventually wore out the stainless links in the band, and replaced them with links I fabricated myself. When the band finally fell apart I began wearing the $39.00 battery-operated Timex Indiglo that was my Father's.
Keeps better time than the Rolex Chronometer and when I push the stem, the face glows in the dark. What a great idea!

For a man watches are a piece of jewelry as well as instruments. I have always had positions that required adherence to time therefore a watch for me was a necessity. It needed to be reliable and accurate. Cheap watches doe not meet those requirements and pulling out a cell phone (especially in the days before cell phones) is cumbersom.

Speak for yourself. As far as I'm concerned, a watch is about as much 'jewelry' (or 'jewellery', in English) as a pair of shoes. I need to know the time; I need to keep my feet warm and dry and safe from sharp stones.

A watch needs to be REALLY cheap before it's unreliable. My $28 Omega Seamaster 30 (bought in the PX in Bermuda in 1968) still works fine...

Nothing against watches personnally, nice to look at, but I wouldn't wear one. It would last about 3 months on my wrist before I destroyed it against a counter or other hard surface.

Look at the other details: PX, Bermuda, 1968...

My memory well may be at fault but I don't think so. The PX was a source of amazing bargains, Same price for a Minolta 16-II, as far as I recall.

I love analog watches, and mechanical "must wind" watches the best. I have several, and they are the perfect compliment to a mechanical camera. And, I love fountain pens and writing letters, and cars with manual transmissions, and bicycles with friction shifting.

I have only one watch that I like very much.
A simple hamilton automatic. Very well made, yet no luxury item.
very functional and simple, and I do like the fact that it's mechanic (that's for the irrational part)
It's the most M2-esque watch I ever had...
