Canon LTM Who paints Canon P?

One of my Canon P shooters could use cosmetic attention; I thought perhaps some black paint. Painting a P has been discussed in several threads here (though not recently) but I can find no one who is currently painting anything but Leica.

Can anyone give me a pointer to someone who can do a proper paint job (including chrome removal) on a P?

I don't know if Rangefinder Restorations does P's, but I hope they do, given the fine work they did on the M4-2 I own.
 
Shintaro does the best paint jobs I've ever seen, better than the original Nikon, Canon or Leica black paint.

Shintaro got a pretty bad rap about a year ago on the LUG for extremely poor customer service from several members. I found a guy in Seoul who'll do black or army green for $310 plus return insured postal. He did mine and I'm really happy w/ it.

I am aware of Shintaro and Luton, but $500+, given the value of a P body, is a bit too high for me. Unless Ps have risen in value considerably since I last looked. :)

I will track down the other leads. Thanks again...
 
I asked Rangefinder Restorations if they could do a P, he said he'd never tried and wasn't sure how involved it might be. I considered sending it as a guinea pig, but I got to liking the chrome on the Canon. Try asking our own digitalintrigue. Worst he can say is "no." Maybe he's up for a challenge.
 
I have a chrome P and a black P. Both are beautiful cameras. My black P has been painted in Japan directly over chrome, which does not seem to be a good idea. Still, I like the result, with use being shown by flakings. The lettering is in white, which is better looking than some people's work where they cover the lettering in black.
 
This Canon P was painted black [by someone] in Japan. It looks used, and the black paint has peeled off at some places, but the camera still looks super cool to me.

I also noted the color of the material of the lugs. Maybe the serial number will be helpful in figuring out whether it was a Black Paint P or a repainted P.
 
Not just the lugs. Did the factory painted black P's have the "Canon" lettering on the front & top painted in white paint?

Still looks very cool! I'll take one in black, chrome, tiger-striped, etc.
 
To my feel all the black Canon P/ 7s misses most of the beauty the chrome ones actually show.
The Leica II/III looks better in black, the Nikon S2/SP as well. It's hard to decide for the Olympus Pen FT, because the assymetrical structure of the leatherette adds to elegance for the chrome cameras. All of them mentioned are quite compact. The Canon 7/P are a bit larger. Large cameras in black tend to look clumsy for my eyes.
 
All the black paint Canon P's I've seen that, as they wear, show chrome rather than brass. I don't like the look. But a nice Chrome P has a certain appeal I can't describe. It is better suited with a nice chrome exterior, to me.

Jim,
I like the chrome P and the black P. I may even like an olive green P is it existed. The camera looks great.
