I don't have this camera but it interests me. Who are the go to guys? I know that there are tons of Leica RF guys, but who works on Nikon RFs?

I just like to know the repairability of some cameras before going out and buying them. It seems that essex is gone and keh.com doesn't seem to be very reliable (or atleast consistent).

If found in decent shape, the old Nikons tend not to need servicing. On the other hand, the Cameraquest repair folks also are in California.

If you're looking for someone on the east coast, Youxin Ye told me he could service my S2. He always did a great job on my Barnacks. I'm sending mine to him.

I do miss Essex. I sent them tons of stuff over the years. I'm hoping I can track down one or more of the technicians who worked there - I heard they're working out of their homes. Unfortunately, thousands of spares were permanently lost in hurricane Sandy.

If you are in CA, you should probably use Cameraquest. If I was out there, I would.

Don Goldberg cleaned mine. He's in Wisconsin. Be aware that he takes his time, so if you wanted a fast turnaround, look elsewhere. He is, however, one of the best in RF camera work.

Actually Vince is correct. Nikons need very little maintenance. Mine, however, did need a rangefinder adjustment and a bit of a cleaning in the VF. I'm sure the shutterspeeds were within tolerance.

Be careful at handling them... They are quite seductive pieces of photographical engineering... :)
