How many of you still love your M8 cameras? I sold mine a last year, I miiss it even with all the drawbacks. Also who has shot theirs 30k+ shutter accuations?

I have two and use them. One has the upgrade M8.2 type shutter (and framelines) but neither has anywhere near 30k clicks. I had an M9 and sold it, while figuring the M8's sale value was low enough they were worth keeping. Glad I did!

I'm in the same boat as you.
Loved it. Sold it.
I would like another but... it would be a luxury at the moment.
It's still a very capable camera. Just not well rounded enough to be practical.

I used mine for a good three years. I recently bought an M9, which is nice. Though the black and white capability of the M8 can't be beat. I will probably sell it.

Currently my only Leica M digital. It goes out with me at least once a week; no guarantee we'll shoot anything though. My film Ms currently fill my FF needs and the M8 gives me wonderful digital options. It helps to have a wide range of lenses to mount on these cameras, so this works OK. I may pick up an M9 from a local aquaintance though.

We're a little over 14K shutter clicks now (a little less than 7K after the upgrades to M8.2 (shutter, framelines, sapphire screen) a few years ago) I'm guessing 14K is a lot less than my M2, M3, M6, and CL friends.

I sold mine years ago but if you can still produce great photos then why not?

And when you look at the sensor corrosion issues with the M9, Monochrome etc it makes you wonder.

........ I still shoot an R8+DMR and love the results.

I had an M8 and I did not like the noise of the shutter. I sold it to my sister, she dropped it in a lake in Ohio. I was able to resurrect it.
I bought an new M8.2 but in the years it seemed to new to me to dare use it so I did not use it much and finally sold it. My mistake.
I recently bought 2 second hand M8.2 and love using them.

I still have 2, and both have done 100K+ actuations. One has been very troublesome, one has never been anywhere but with me or in my bag since 2006 . . .

Yup still love and use the M8 on a regular basis and as far as drawbacks go well none of them really apply to me as I don't really do that much low light shooting so the limited ISO range isn't that big a deal to me. As far as resolution goes the ability to print 10x15 inch on 16x20 paper @260PPI more then meets my needs. I've thought/think a lot about getting an M (240) but I have to wonder if I'll get my money's worth out of it, this has more do with how much/how often I shoot/use a camera as it does with the camera itself. Then there's the question of how some of my lenses will perform on the M and whether replacing/upgrading to newer lens would need to be factored in. So the way things stand I'll be shooting with the M8 for several more years.

I have an M8u and as far as RF digitals are concerned, I dont know why I would want anything beyond it. Its B&W performance is outstanding and I can use all my M and LTM glass. It can't compare to my D610 for pure resolution but then we all know the pluses and minuses of SLRs. Unless you MUST have a full frame digi I dont see anything that beats an M8!!

The crop factor did not bother me ... I always got my shotand worked within its boundaries
The B&W rendering was lovely , not too 'hyper realism' like today's super megapixels/sensors
Just a tad too big and heavy

Would i have another ... Maybe
Still like the output of the M8, leicax1, X2 and the merrills

Fabulous, quirky camera. I shoot mine with older lenses and am still amazed by the results if I'm specific and careful over what I shoot.

The point is...

It's still usable. As long as you don't get hung up on the crop factor and limited resolution.
If it works then use and enjoy it. :D

Thinking about it. How many "good" cameras have been relegated to the scrap heap because of a "perceived" redundancy?

I own an 8 year old Canon 1Ds MK11 and it produces fine results and my R8 DMR still sees regular use.

I've had mine since they came out and aside from some shutter problems - finally diagnosed as a need for new batteries - it's been trouble-free. It goes out every day with my film Ms, which I use for black and white. The M8 is strictly a color camera. I do wish for better low-light capability, although I did use it three times in the past two weeks to shoot high school basketball.
