i am close to buying this lens for myself as a christmas present...been reading about it, looking at images on flickr...
i really like when it can do!

i'd also like to hear from actual users of the lens...anyone here have and use one?

thanks matt...fabulous images!
have you continued to use the lens or is it mainly a holiday/landscape lens for you?

i surprised at how much i like that 10mm pov...but wondering if street shots could work with something that wide. i'm fine with the 16 i have and i got some decent shots with the 14 when i had it.

so, no one else has a 10-24?

The 10-24 is an excellent lens.

For about eight years I used ultra-wide angle zoom lenses extensively for interiors photography. The XF 10-24/4 outperforms the three Nikkor (16-35mm f/4G, 12-24mm F/4 G, 17-35mm f/2.8 AF-S) and Tokina (11-16mm f/2.8) ultra-wide zooms I used with APS-C and 24 X 36 mm sensors.

The Fujinon's optical performance at 10-12 mm is much better. I preferred the micro-contrast as well. The Fujinon lens exhibited much less flare and ghosting when I was forced to shoot into the sun and when off-camera strobes were just out of the frame. The AF performed at a high level (X-T1). It's one weakness is sharpness at 23-24 mm... which is good, but not as tack sharp as the Nikkor 16-35mm f/4G. Most of the time I used the lens at 14-17 mm and was very pleased. The amount of time I spent in post production with raw files was significant reduced when I stared to use this lens. My cameras were always on a tripod so I can't say much about IS. When I used IS it worked well... but I never did a careful comparison with the Nikkors.

Even though I stopped using it for gigs, I still own this lens.

I doubt 10mm would be useful for street work. For one thing it would be difficult (for me anyway) to avoid converging verticals without a tripod. Second people would appear to be very small or, if you got closer, would suffer from perspective distortion. I prefer 18 mm as my shortest APS-C focal length for street work.

I use ultra-wide zooms for this urban, suburban landscapes and documentary work involving buildings, etc. Then 10 mm would be very useful for some of these scenes. One advantage is you can correct for converging verticals in post production and the resulting image crop is not problematic.

This lens has become a real workhorse for me. While a large portion of what I do involves landscape work, I also use this lens quite a bit for architecture/interiors and some editorial gigs. Of course, this is also a fantastic travel lens.

The two images below from a gallery show I had last fall are couple more examples of this lens used at 10mm.

Again, I tend to use this at the short end of the zoom range. If Fuji made a fixed 10mm, I'd probably be content, and my 14mm wouldn't feel so neglected.;)

thanks again matt...i appreciate both of the commentators for helping me out.

i'll take a closer look at the lens itself on saturday...

I do not own or use the Fuji 10-24mm f/4. However, I seriously considered buying one because it is well built and produces high quality images. I selected the manual focus 12mm Rokinon instead because I needed the f/2 lens speed for my shooting style and subject matter much more than I needed the 10mm focal length and auto focus.

joe, i like it so well that i pair it with a 35/1.4 as my 2 lens walk-around set-up. as willie pointed out, it's not as strong on the far end at f/4-5.6. OIS is worth about 2 stops, at least. i would buy it again. since i have the 16/1.4, the zoom is my ultra-wide and i use it most at 10-15mm, where it seems to me to be at its best anyway. as Matt said, a really fine travel lens.

if i didn't have the 16/1.4, i'd consider the 14/2.8 or the rokinon 12/2 for the speed though.

it's surprisingly comfy on my XT-1 in hand, belies its apparent size.

i have the 16 as well...but i was thinking of using this as a zoom set/kit...the 10-24 along with the 55-200...not a tiny kit but 2 bodies with a lens on each should fit nicely into my domke f6.
