Yes, absolutely. Lets have forums about flower arranging too (people take photos of flowers don't they?) and cats (ditto) and bunny rabbits...
Let's also change the name as it clearly won't be a Rangefinder Forum then, will it? (Hint: the clue is in the name).

I voted yes because I can never find it when I want to post there.
Oh yeah and so it creates more work for the mods who have to then move my post there.

I must be getting old as I like it the way it is. I'm too lazy to go over to the DSLR space as often as I should. I like the intermix of Evil SLRs with RFs just about the amount we have today. More steps to find great info and share ideas is in my mind not a good thing.

It would be more in the spirit of a rangefinder forum to add a mirror box forum for all the users of Visoflexes and similar.

I'm glad! And I will tell you why. People who are into rangefinders by and large have a certain attitude towards photography, one I find appealing. These people value spontaneity over technical excellence, process as well as product, beauty in design and not just functionality, simplicity over unnecessary complexity. They like FILM. They're resourceful, do their own repairs, and appreciate the obscure, unusual, and forgotten technologies that most photographers aren't interested in.
i voted yes, i'm only an slr user. and plus some of the other RF links on the side are much less active than this forum.

I have never once clicked on one of the forum links on the left of the page. There are lots of forums or sub-forums or whatever you want to call them that are not there. I use the FORUMS button in the main header across the top if I want to find a forum that is not active on the main page.
I think we should remove the list at the left altogether and run Nikon ads featuring young hot chicks in their panties.

All those people are here. And when I want to talk to people about SLR's, I don't want to talk to SLR people. I want to talk to rangefinder people who ALSO like SLR's, because they value the same things I do in photography.
Wow, that's the most convincing thing I've read from the 'yes' side. Hard to argue with that...

And if the misfortunated "Evil" adjective, given to appeace those who are reluctant to the SLRs within RFF, could be dropped - it will be a healthy sign of maturity.
...
Cheers,

I disagree completely. It would be a very UNHEALTHY sign of maturity. It's a joke. It's amusing, if not LOL funny. It's a small bit of wit that marks us -- rangefinder enthusiasts -- as a tribe. Most camera people are arguing film vs digital, or worse Canon vs Nikon, or worse yet Mac vs PC. We're poking fun at the polarized nature of the photography community by always appending "evil" to the word/phrase (D)SLR. If it weren't a joke, and we were all just closed-minded zealots, the forum wouldn't even exist.
And for the record, I own both a film and a digital SLR and can't wait to save up and get my paws on the next class up digital SLR... and maybe one day that Rangefinding Fujifilm/Bessa in medium format we've been promised.

Voted "No". SLRs is what the rest of Internet photography forums is dedicated to.

Nikkor. What else?

I voted yes. If the forum exists on RFF, why not have a direct link to it? If it doesn't belong here, then everything else that is not specifically related to rangefinders should be banned from this forum and deleted.
I agree with Mabelsound (see quote). This forum is about rangefinders, but a lot of us use different types of cameras. Some mainly or exclusively rangefinders, some, like myself, more occasionally. This is a great site, very different from other, more (D)SLR related sites. Having all sorts of different views and experiences can only benefit RFF.

Right, and of course you can't do that, because then you have to forbid a bunch of Leicas, Robots, scale focusing folders, etc.
Adding a link won't make life any different for the people who don't want to talk about SLRs, it'll just make it slightly easier and more welcoming than those who do. And the site will not be overrun by people who are only into SLRs and will fill up the forums with 100% crops of brick walls. We are ALL rangefinder fans, and nobody who isn't one will never bother showing up here.

Well they make it easier to get to the forums you want to read. Why would we want the link at the side? What purpose do the side links serve? I mean, what actual useful purpose...
For me a link to the SLR forum on the left would be much more useful than the existing links to uninteresting forums like Scale Focus 35s or Large Format RFs, that get 1 posting every three weeks or so.

It's a place for RF lovers to post an occasional bit about their SLRs...

Well said!
As someone pointed out (along with my previous post) that the Evil SLR sub-forum is quite active, rarely I saw a day where no one is either looking or posting there. So why the need of an extra link?
As to why I like it, it's a cozy place where people who loves both RF and SLR can talk to each other, compare notes. It's a place where people can talk about the style of photography that is well-suited for both camera types
And to drool over those fabulous pictures on Keith's Show me your SLR thread...

Nikon should bring back the SP in regular production and feature it in "Naked Chick" ads. That should bring about a revival of interest for rangefinder cameras, don't you think?

While I do care about 'naked, hot chicks in panties' (deeply), I don't care about the links on the left side of the page. In fact I don't ever use any of the links in those menus, except for the ads.

Well... my reason to vote yes: I like to talk gear to my friends. Most of my friends are here, and I see no reason to limit my conversations with friends to one single topic when I really like their input and opinion. Hence, to me it's not the cameras, it's the company.
Ain't that a good reason?

"blah blah blah hot chicks in panties blah blah blah..."

"hot chicks in panties"...and if that shot happened to be taken with a "Evil SLR" no one in here will really care or protest...but it will have more hits than a middle-weight prize fight...
No comments on how great the bokeh is, or talk about that Leica Glow or even what film or process was used...just make sure the drool is wiped off the keyboard before your next posting...

Only if the forum concerned grand old SLR cameras such as Miranda's and SRT 101's.
