That's hilarious! I just noticed that the entire 'non-rangefinder' section is listed with the exception of 'Evil SLRs'. Seems to be some intense equipment angst pent up somewhere.

I always read the philosophy, Roger Hicks, Leica M, RF projects, Film and Darkroom, and this forum when I visit. If it were up to me, those would be the only fora one could actually navigate to from the side bar. However I never use the sidebar.

Would it be possible to make the sidebar customizable for each user? That is, if we are logged in we could have it display only the forums we specifically want to read?

Just a thought.

I don't get why nothing has been done about this yet. It's an absurd situation to begin with. Not fixing it seems ridiculous.

I call bull****, though. EVERY OTHER non-rangefinder link is listed in the sidebar. It's like waging war against nothing. Yeah, it's a rangefinder site, which is great. That's why I originally came to this site, after all, but the issue at hand seems to illustrate something that is either very myopic or very cranky, and either way seems silly in the end.

David, It's probably not an issue to get all passionate about. It gives purists like Steven and Joe a small act of defiance to stand against the tide. Kind of like how we film users react when we get told how our medium is dead.

I don't mind scrolling at all, and it's kind of cute, doncha think?

Fair enough. The illogical just nags me eternally, though. Oh well. It's their forum in the end, regardless of how I feel about it. But if we don't get a sidebar link, why do we get to keep talking about it? Entertainment value for the opposition, I suppose?

it's a compromise as i see it.

if i had my way there would be rf chat here and only rf chat...but i only moderate a site that stephen owns.

I'm ok if there's no link, but I wouldn't want to eliminate SLR talk. I recently asked for people's opinions on F mount CV and Zeiss lenses. I don't think there's any better place to ask (and if there is, I don't frequent it).

Cheers
Steven

no worries on that one.

i only enforce the rules, i don't make them.

Think of how much more fun it is being part of the SLR Underground rather than just a poster in another SLR forum.

I like my evil SLR camera but i come here for the rangefinder and general photo topics.
NO Link please.
I like my digital too and i never want to see a link for that.

As someone who shoots both rangefinder and SLR I find this whole thing just a tad immature. As for the forum owner and moderator's stance for not listing Evil SLRS on the side with the other camera formats is their business, I don't agree with it but then I don't own or moderate RFF. I do see a bit of hypocrisy with Micro 4/3 on the menu which is nothing close to rangefinders analog or digital.
