It is Picasso I am thinking about? There were a set of photographs taken by someone who's name completely draws a blank for me at the moment, many pictures of Picasso painting, especially some of him just in his shorts working?

they talked about his protrait of Picasso in "genius of photography." tony describes the moment where is pretends that his camera is broken to get Picasso to let his guard down. Good stuff.

Sometime back in the '70s, maybe the late '60s, I think it was Punch that published the satire "My Buddy, Picasso," riffing on Duncan's work.

These are shorts (and umbrella):

Mostly David Douglas Duncan, I got his book "Photo Nomad" there's a section on photographs of Picasso, his family, his works and yes including that minnatour 'painting' he did using light

I just picked up that book, too. Kind of quirky as autobiography, but lots of great photos including the ones he took of Picasso, whom he got to know fairly well.

The book authored by David Douglas Duncan is called "Goodbye Picasso" published by Grosset & Dunlap (ISBN 0-448-11619-7).
