Epson doesn't fix the RD-1, they replace it. That all sounds great when practically all RD-1 users are in their warranty period (actually I don't know about various gray market options, so maybe I am wrong). However, what if the electronics of the camera need repair after the warranty period. Will they start repairing them then? or is that 3000 a one year gamble? does Epson has any technicians that can fix the camera?

I think epson will take it on, at least in the UK.

This worrisome for some one considering making the jump. The rangefinder and shutter I assume can be done by anyone that can work on a Bessa. The CCD and the rest of the electronics is a major concern for the next few years.

I was told by Epson UK a couple of months back that they send the cameras to France for repairs. I didn't try it, just got a new camera off them, so I can't confirm this. However, they did say they were committed to offering ongoing support.
