There's all kinds of crazy awesome in there.

Perhaps, but they're neat. One would like to say "medium format." But one is highly conscious of the likelihood of being laughed off the forum.

I'm quite taken with that knob-covered thingie that looks like an NX camera crossed with a Barnack Leica. And what's the white thing on the right?

Probably concept models to explore where they can move their NX series, and very cool concept models they are.

The cube seems a little ergonomically challenged, especially if they use a small sensor.

The white thing just looks like the back of a p&s with a black lens mounted in the front. Notice the orientation of the hotshoe.

The cube appears to have a waist level finder!?

Is this Samsung's first medium format digital camera?

Look closely at that photo above. Those, friends, are digital cameras from Samsung. That's right, even that boxy one that looks quite a bit like an old-school medium format film shooter. This photo was quietly inserted into a blog post from Sammy about lens design, without so much as a caption to clarify what our curious eyes were seeing. Might this be a future model meant to compete in the highest-ends of the digital camera market? Or is it something cooked up in the lab and abandoned for a more practical and mainstream design? There was a rumor kicking around last summer that Samsung was working on a medium format CMOS sensor and this could be a test rig for just such a slice of silicon. Whatever it is, we're intrigued and we'll be keeping an ear out for more info on what the Korean company has brewing.

Samsung's stuff is all junk though, which doesn't matter in mobile phones, as these are all obsolete within a year anyway. However, if Samsung is going to make a camera like that, they will need to pick up their game.

The EX1/TL500 is extraordinarily well made, the most impressive enthusiast compact I've used. And the NX series has been well received. Which of their recent cameras didn't work out for you? I'm not a fan particularly, but I think they've made a pretty serious push to be a reputable camera manufacturer.

and the nx10 is a pretty great little camera too... not to mention the almost contax-like 30mm f2 pancake...
