I don't know if there's been one made in the past, but it would be cool if there was an RFF branded softie available from Tom A. Just wondering how many people would be interested in picking one up if we where able to convince him to make one? It would be a nice way to identify other forum members when you're out on the street... our own version of a Masonic handshake :)

We could even have a design competition to see who can make the best design, let Tom A and the Head Bartender pick their top five choices and then hold a poll to see which one we like the most and what color everyone likes.

and people LOVE polls here!!! :D I'd be willing to get one as I am currently in need of a softie for my M4.

Well obviously that would be step 2 :)... but step one is seeing if there's enough interest to even bother bringing the question to him. His site says the engraver likes to work in batches of 100... so if "yes" gets 100 or more votes we can go to step 2

quote] I can't speak for others eyesight - but I would need to get pretty close to your camera - to recognise any engraving on a soft release!
Dave.
and if someone got their nose that close to mine - they would move it PDQ!

I have one now, willing to get an additional "unique" RFF softie or two.
As noted earlier, engraving would be difficult/impractical to see from a normal/comfortable distance, so the color would have to be "very unique" to be noticable as RFF.

I'm still up for 1 or 2.

Yes.. it would be hard to see from across the street, but at least in my experience when two people carrying rangefinders pass each other in the street they end up stopping, chatting... and checking out each others camera's like dogs sniffing bums :) At which point the soft release becomes a conversation starter

It could be done - but as stated, it has to be in batches of 100. The engraving system is costly to set up. I think a fairly bright color would be fine, red comes to mind. We have done red/silver ones some years ago for customers - and also the first engraving we did was a LUG (Leica Users Group) about 10 years ago. Extremely rare as the only way you could get one was to show up at PhotoKina's Leica Booth at noon on the Saturday of the show.
If the RFF logo was distinct and centered with the Rangefinder Forum on the circumference - it would be quite distinct.

Seems there was quite a bit of interest according to the previous poll... maybe we can get something going this time. I like the idea from the previous poll from Tom A... a red softie with chrome engraving... RFF logo in the middle with rangefinderforum.com around the edge.
