Whooooo Hooooooo...its not a meth lab!

Locally I pay $9.76 per roll, unmounted for 120 or 35.
In Germany just to keep things in perspective... Standard E6 from the drugstores (typically handled then by CeWe) is around 2 EURO/roll. Standard mailers (typically Fuji EUROCOLOR in Gera) too are around 2 EURO/roll. It only gets to the neighborhood of $10 USD (8 EURO) when one goes to pro-labs or have Agfa Scala processed. Turn-around from the drugstores and mailers is a few days..

That is a nice unit.

I found some 105' thermo switches on amazon for $10. I might go with one of them but the real issue will be the overall ramp up to temp. The unit is enamled metal that holds heat and releases it into the water over a bit of time. If the new switch cuts off power at 105' there will be an increase in temp over the next few minutes. I can set the switch, if adjustable, to a lower temp for cut off and that will work great for a while until the overall temp of the unit goes down a bit then we will be under temp as which point i will need to increase the cut off temp.

I can do the same thing with the exisiting rotary switch.

I want to give this a few more tries as is before i get more complicated. There really was no issue with getting the correct temps within 2-3'.

I also want to get a rotary process going as well. Since I remove the tank so often to hand agitate the temps must be all over the place within 5' or so; maybe less. To really stay constant on temp the rotary is a must. I have an old grill rotissery that might work 🙂

No worries on this makign it to the good will or such....i will be sure to destroy it prior to the trash can 🙂. I have a feelign it will last a long time!

That's the ticket- by spearing the forks on the spit (which held the meat in place) thru the top and bottom of the film tank, you will avoid the problems of having the tank fall off during rotation 🙂

Yep...it is just plain old tap water n the roaster. Enough of the chemicals get onto the bottles and such that I would not want to eat out of it.

Make fun of my rotissery idea! 🙂

I need a slow turning 120v motor w/shaft. From there i can fab rollers and some sort of connection device to the film tank. A used grill rotissery might work....

To keep in the sprit of using other technology for photographic purposes: how about an old turntable for agitation? I used an old record player many many moons ago for just such a purpose.

So it has been a while since i updated this.

So far about 30 rolls of E6...works like a charm!

Once the pot gets to about 105 it is very easy to get it to stay there. I have had almost 100% success with e6 to date.

I also use it to keep my rodinal cool. I like rodinal at about 18'. Cool water and ice.... As with the e6 temps, once it gets cool it stays cool.

The 5 roll jobo tank can be used but it is a PITA. I use smaller 2 roll tnaks and jsut do more pocesses. If I had a deeper crockpot the 5 roll would be fine.

Lots of water seems to get all over the place...I use towels to keep the area dry.

The GF has agreed to let me build a permanent meth lab/darkroom since she got very tired of the meth lab on the counter 🙂
