I've been seriously thinking of buying a digital Leica and I'm getting quite close to ordering the new M now that it's shipping. Will anyone here receive one soon? Where did you order?

I wish I had money to order one. The images I have seen from this new M-240 are superb.
Oh well, maybe in my next life.

I ordered one on the release day, should be getting it next week sometime. Ordered from Red Dot in London.

Ordered 1 right after the announcement in September & sold my M9 as a "downpayment." Whether I actually get 1 soon is a different question. My friend at the Leica Store told me that they got 1 that's immediately going out to an out-of-town buyer; they also have VIP customers who get priority on the waiting list.

I'll settle for a Fuji X100 or X100s. The M body is too rich for me. Not that I wouldn't swing it if I could, mind you... ;)

I'm far down the list at PopFlash, an RFF supporter. It will be a long time before I'm at the top of the list, I suspect, perhaps even this time next year! In the meantime I'll want to be moving some gear in the Classifieds to pay for it.

I understand buying Leica lenses. They hold their value. Can't see why one would spend that kind of coin on a disposable camera body, though.

Because it's the best way to use a Leica lens with a digital capture body. I doubt the body is as disposable as you suggest. My M9 should be making photos for me for another five to ten years ... I rarely kept a film camera that long, although I have several that are older than that.

I am on several M wait lists, but changed my course and just picked up an M9. It makes more sense for me in many ways. So time to sell my M8 ...

Put in my preorder end of October at the same time I ordered a Monochrom. The Monochrom never came and I was told another two months... sorry Leica, you lost that order. But I hope they come through with the M...

I wouldn't call the M8 or M9 disposable. Actually, I don't mind having one :D

Anyways, I was saving for an X2 and now that I have the dough, I decided to keep on saving for the M. I should have enough for one sometime this year. In the mean time, will be slumming with film and wet printing in the local high school darkroom.

To answer the post question, I pose one: Does it cost the same or less than an Olympus OM-D, or one of the great Fujifilm cameras? If not, the answer is no.
