Who's the wheelman at Sony?....

It appears Sony grabbed the 30x, f3.5-6.3, 24-720mm lens and the 1/2.3-inch 20-megapixel Exmor R sensor from its Cyber-shot HX50V.

Long zooms are common marketing solution, while Sony is abessed with cameras sizes and megapixels little more comparing to others.
They were going after size and MPs for some time now.
This camera might works well on consumer market, where absolute majority of pictures are taken with mobile phones now. Following by tabletographers 🙂

I like it too!
I posted a week or two ago a thread about looking for a touch screen camera for my Mother to give a higher IQ solution to her iPad mini (which she loves).
What I realize now is it's the big screen acting as a ground glass that she realy likes.

The nex(t) step for sony is to create a tablet with a large sensor already installed.
Simply remove a bayonet cap and mount the lens on . OK, I know it's not that simple but... It would be cool! 😎

Andy.. Look at sentence above the highlighted section for auto focusing.

Well.. Looks like the mount they designed for the qx series will only work on phones not tablets. I did not know this until I read the article. It looks like no one has made a tablet mount. Although they have shots of the qx series being used w/ tablets via the remote app, I guess no one at Sony marketing thought a tablet mount would be useful.

I know there have been a lot of complaints from people about that big tablet blocking the shot ( I think most of us have had it happen to us at one time or another), but I have to admit, looking at some shots from friends and family that have used their iPad this way.. For some, their compositions improved a lot.

For me... Not interested...butttt.. The e mount version.. I was thinking astro photography guys might be interested. T-mounted to a telescope and the remote app on the tablet.

I know of a camera store in the Bay Area that used them as the store video cams.

Hi Gary
Surely a temporary fail. Leaving out tablets is leaving out a big part of the market.
This concept is an infant. It should grow up to be well rounded competitor I bet.
Fun times ahead!
