Why are there so few R-D1's available now?

I noticed that the R-D1's on ebay (actually the r-d1s model) the ones out of Japan have increased in price. The dollar has actually increased in value so this is perplexing, I suppose they only have a limited supply and as the supply dwindles they can raise the price. I've decided to keep my user since I'm not sure that I can replace my main camera in the future and the M8 used prices seem to have stabilized around $3800.00. (I prefer to use the R-D1 anyways). Last week there were at least 6 for sale on this site, now I see only 2, they must still be desirable. Bob.

Hi Bob,

See that you are adding a third unit to your arsenal? Anyway, I think there is no shortage of supply for both new and used Epson R-D1. You just need to look more carefully.

I just received my second unit yesterday. I must say that prices are a bit erratic lately. Some at really good value whilst others commanding a premium for no apparent reason, taking into consideration the condition of the item.

Cheers,

Third one

Didn't really want another but it was a package only and oh boy, those lenses! So, there may be another for sale in a couple weeks. Bob.

I think that the day-to-day fluctuation in the number of R-d1s offered does not really reflect the long-term trend. There could be 6 for sale last week, only one today, 4 tommorrow, and 7 next week. I think you would have to track it and graph it for a while to see if there is a trend.
