Tourist Thru Life
I do the streets because I grew up there, still live there and there's a certain poetry that exist there and I'm a part of it....I am a poet with a camera
and of course I have to....I love seeing how things look in 2 dimensions....

Somebody (Garry Winogrand??) was quoted as saying, "I take pictures so I can see what something looks like in a picture".
Philosphy aside, I shoot what I shoot for the same reason I drink what I drink -- because I WANT to.

One of the theories as to why males are generally more attracted to sports than females are, is that in sports there is a defined playing area with explicitly defined rules, as opposed to real life living with women where these are more vague and fluid, and there are many things that we're never told but just "should know". Maybe photography, like sports, is another safe and logical space.

Frank,
It's a safe and logical space because it never says "no" to GAS!
In fact, it welcomes the idea...!

I suck at other stuff
I suck at other stuff
Even though I mostly suck at what I do shoot, I've tried shooting other things. I really suck at shooting those other things.
So, the lesser of two evils dictates that I shoot what I shoot and once in a great while I get a nice photograph.
Clear as mud? One subject I never tire of shooting are scenes involving living things juxtaposed with man made things. Sometimes I'm not even aware of doing it until I get the pictures back from the lab. Other times I'm drawn to a particular scene because of the organic-inorganic elements. Of course I still mostly suck at that too. But I'm comfortable doing it.

Finally at home...
I take photos of moments that amaze me with gear that fascinates me.

My cup runneth amok.
I'm on an intermittent but never-ending search for that rare, fleeting "wow" moment; the one that happens when the tiny little picture on the contact sheet is screaming to be printed 8 x 10 and framed.
Had a couple. Can stand a couple more.

There are two main reasons I shoot what I shoot. I am not usaully creative, but using the camera forces me see ordinary things in a new way. I like to take pix that evoke feeling in me. That usually means most of my shots are of my girls during their various activities. I am a proud mom and I hope my pictures show it.
