why does this 35RD cost so much?

The guy who bought the RD that began this thread also bought one from OZ that needed some work on the shutter and meter. Not sure if he's a user, a collector or a reseller. If he's a reseller and does his own restorations, he may average down his costs and come out ahead. Same for being a shooter. If he's a collector, logic doesn't really apply.

mm i see. well.. there has been a couple more popping up. and its just crazy how much people are getting for them.

i just won an SP tonight, im a happy camper. but its gonna need a goooood CLA :) at least cosmetically its in good order. a perfect shooter.

Hmmm, It is a quality camera alrite, but $300 ? nah I'd pass, I paid $2.50 (yup - two dollar fifty cents - couldn't believe they mixed it with the TIME "OPTICAL Quality" cameras junk) for an almost brand new (not even a single bright mark on the body)with case from a local thrift store 5 years ago .... and it was a nice gift for my old man, he still get around to use it today !

I would pay $300 for a BLACK 35 SPn though :) .... Just got a Chrome 35 SPn last week for 90 bucks ... the best $90 bucks I ever spent !!!!!!

BTW, love this forum, you guys helped me to revived my $6 Yashica 35 GS ... will take the first roll this week !

i did some adjustments to my SP today, as per Gman's instruction, and i think i may have solved the non aligned RF issue. gotta drop off the second test roll.

Earl, just found out that the test LED on my SPn is not working (does not go off once pressed on the "test" button), ? battery is new! any idea how to fix it? thanks in advance

I have an RD in roughly the same shape as this one, and I had people here dumping
all over me because I wanted $130.

Don't need the aggravation--it's no longer for sale.

"beauty is in the eyes of the beholder" .... you are not asking too much and not too little either ! it's just that most of us in here could get one cheaper ! :)

For the camera, its a quality one and well worth $130 !

cheers

IMHO, it is not understandable to pay $260.00 for a 35 RD from an unknown guy on the Bay, while you can buy an E++ condition, just overhauled, Olympus 35 DC for $100.00 from a reputable seller (Stephen Gandy from Cameraquest), or a 35 SP from Keh for $109.00.

BTW, I couldn't resist, I just bought the 35 SP from Keh...

if anybody knows an opportunity to buy a 35 rd... pleeeeee--heeease tell me.

i think in the last few days i've browsed the whole internet for this thing, but i failed. it's frustrating. i mean it isn't a leica after all...

Christian - if you come across one at a reasonable price would you let me know where? :D I'm looking also - not easy to find. I thought after finding an SP I would be done, but... I think the RC/DC/SP would just make the perfect trio. Then I'm done. Really. Seriously christian, good luck in your search.

thanks! same to you.
*sigh* - one day we'll have our rd's. we just have to believe... :D

edit
maybe this one is cheap enough for you: click (not for me, though :( )

Too rich for my blood also - we just need to keep the faith - I am sure we will both have one before long (with out the need for a second mortgage!)
