Why I like "good stuff"

We joke a lot about GAS but in reading your post, Chris, it caused me to remember some of the things I appreciate the most and they all involved delayed gratification. When I started college I decided to quit sponging off my parents so I had to save for some time for a mediocre Nikon and two lenses -- I sure did appreciate that camera when I could finally afford it (my Dad called it "Japanese Junk"😀 -- he's never been without an opinion). Same with a motorcycle...went many years ghosting around the shops and drooling over the magazines before finally deciding to buy (had a few when I was younger but then went into a lapse). The most satisfying photographic purchase by far has been a lens that took four or five years to locate. We are all individuals capable of making our own decisions; for me personally I'm beginning to think that "less is more."

I think I'll sell everything and get a Moto Guzzi Rosso Corsa...
Or maybe I'll tell my wife I'm selling everything, get the Guzzi and then when I have the time I'll sell everything...😉

I made the mistake of reading a Popular Photography when I was 11 or so. I think all those ads imprinted on me. I have Nikon, Leica, Canon, Contax, Retina, Tessina, Robot, Konica, Minolta, Polaroid, Kodak, Cosina, Voigtlander, Graphic, Argus, ... If it was in that Magazine, I have it.

The most satisfying camera for me is a Nikon SP. Not the rarest of the bunch, but the most innovative of the bunch. I went to the Beatles Photographic Exhibit at the Smithsonian; most of the shots were taken with SP's, the Beatles press manager used an SP, and most of the photographers that were themselves photographed were using SP's. I had the S3 that day. Damn, should have brought the SP.

Add Olympus, No Exakta. There is a nice one at the local Antique shop for $75 though...

Brian, depending upon model, lens, condition etc., it well could be worth the price. I've noted that values for Exaktas have been rising and bargains are getting more difficult to find. Even the RTL-1000, the last E. German Exakta, is bringing a fair price.
