It depends on other factors as well. If you save your images as jpegs, make note of how much smaller an image saved as "medium" quality, for example, will be than one saved as "very high" quality. Also, if you're shooting B&W, you can save a ton of size by saving your image as greyscale rather than RGB, for example.
 
You should not save at "100%" quality. 90% should be fine for the web, and will significantly cut down the file size. That way you can upload images with larger dimensions.
