So I've been jonesing for an original black paint Leica. I tried a new MP, but it broke in less than a week and I returned it. I had largely given up and was enjoying my chrome M4 when I spotted an M4 for sale. On largely a whim, figuring I'd be out bid I placed one bid on this M4:

Then, today again on a whim I figured I'd see what I could find for sale today in my down time. Found this M2 for a price I was willing to pay and went for it!

I picked up both of these for less than the cost of a MP and way less than an M9. Now I have to do some closet cleaning to pay for them. My wife won't be happy, but I'll call these birthday gifts.

I'll add to the chorus, that M2 is gorgeous! Keep it forever!

I plan for these to be the last film m cameras I'll ever buy, unless I find a BP M3 and I have no plans to sell them. Just run hundreds of rolls of film through them all over the world.

a little blue box from Tiffany's will fix everything :D
play fair...
Good idea. I think I'll get her a motorcycle for her birthday in July.

Some things are worth falling out with the missus for. I have an MP and an M2 but always find myself reaching for the M2.

very cool Nate....both of those cameras look really nice.....I look forward to checking them out in person next time you come to town......

cheers, michael

What happened?
The frame counter jammed up and wouldn't reset. Minor I know, but not what I expected from such a 'Mechanically Perfect' camera!

Lovely - especially the M2. Nice to see it's still got brass strap lugs on it.

Have fun with them,

John

Yep, I'm happy about that. The BP M4's came with the chrome lugs though, but they are brass underneath instead of steel or whatever the new ones are.

You can count on it!

I was watching that one (M4). Even waited through the last 20mins of the auction. Thought it would jump price in the last minutes, but not. Congrats Mister E!

Enviable plan. Enjoy. A little guilt seasons the pleasure ...

Yeah, I know. It was weird. Only two bids. A few went over the last few weeks for over $3,000 so I was sure I wouldn't get it. I just put my bid in and went to sleep. Woke up to a you've just won message. I had been kicking myself for passing ont he like new in box M4 BP that B&H had a few weeks ago for $3,700 and while not an awful price, far more than I was willing to pay. They also had a 50 Jahre BC M4 at B&H in box for only $1800, that was a deal!

It was meant to be yours. Also perhaps since it ended on a weekday and in the morning, snippers were not abound.. I was expecting a few hundred $ jump. Then when the clock hit zero I thought to myself, this bidder must be smiling. Enjoy!
