Thanks for your response including the science as it's important that we understand the reasons why.
I'm really torn at present - putting to the side the cost of the shade and finder the cost difference between the Zeiss and the CV here in the UK is approx £565. Although there will be a quality as well as a one stop difference its a big chunk of money that I could buy another M2 with to hang on the lens. I suppose I could push the Tri-X by a stop when needed and to be honest I don't know that my skills merit the Biogon.
Perhaps a trip to Ffordes in Beauly to try out both lenses will help to make up my mind.
