why no 28mm summilux?

especially as the 28 is now the new 35 in digitsl terms, why is there no 28mm summilux?
Canon neglects this focal length too, no fast L-prime in 28mm. Nikon used to do one (or is it still available?) is making a fast 28 anymore difficult than a 24 or a 35?

Wondering myself. Leica has bracketed that focal length w/the 24 & 35 Summilux lenses; perhaps because of limited resources they've decided to concentrate on more leading edge designs. Which makes me also wonder why Cosina hasn't stepped in to fill the gap.

I think furcafe is right. a 21mm Summilux is a more impressive technological tour de force than a 28. They will get around to the 28. They probably have their hands full right now with lenses for the digital R, and for the S2.

The 28 cron is pretty new as well. I would guess that they are concentrating on producing that one at this point. Just a guess though...

The 21 and 24 Summiluxes are based on a common design, and are really novel. I'd be surprised not to see a 28 Summilux, probably sooner rather than later, but between the other new lenses and the S2, they probably just haven't had the resources.

The likelihood of a 28/1.4 from Cosina strikes me as slender, and if Zeiss made it, I'd expect it to be a German-built lens, not Japanese, i.e. Leica prices. Right now, too, may not be the best time to introduce another very expensive lens.

Also, 24mm = 32mm, whereas 28mm = 37mm, so which is the 'new 35mm' is a matter of taste.

Photokina came and went.

What happened to the 28mm Summilux?

Unless the coding is for the new mysterious fast Zeiss lens?
