It's because the lens is so good and there are so few on the used market that no one HAS to sell it at a reduced price.
I have one, and it's really fantastic. The build quality is amazing. I also recently re-acquired a 35Summicron-ASPH, and comparing the two lenses side by side, i realized just how sublime the Nokton's aperture ring is. The Leica has nothing on it but size.
Also, i think that people would be more inclined to just ADD a smaller 35mm lens for situations where the Nokton's size is a problem, rather than selling the Nokton just to get a smaller lens. The Nokton is so good there's no reason to sell it for performance reasons.

The best camera is one that still works!
It makes you wonder why Cosina haven't come up with a superfast 50mm yet. They got it so right with the 35mm and proved that if a fast lens is as good as the Nokton's turned out to be ... size is secondary.
You'd have to supect that if they ever stop producing it prices for used ones will skyrocket!

I have to get a 35/1.2 one day. For size, I can use the tiny Canon 35/2.8 when needed.

Eleskin,
Why not just buy from our host in this forum ? My experience buying from him was very good. His prices are good and although I also buy from B&H it is a different experience; I always like to support "smaller" specialist stores whenever I can. In case something is not ok with your lense you will always get better service/advice from the Voigtlander/Cosina advocate then from a store where Voigtlander is just one of the many brands they sell.
Shipment to Europe was as fast as lightning so shipping to PA should be at warpspeed.

Congratulations!!I'm still looking to find the willpower to buy a 35/1.2 nokton or a summilux 35/1.4 asph! Thanks for the tip Paolo, I just BIN-ed the Nokton 35/1.2 for EUR 590...wooohoo. Had been looking for one in Europe for a while now, but the cheapest I could find was 799 EUR in Germany. Ordering from the US is quite cheaper, but I have been very unlucky with Dutch customs lately.

Because this lens simply "paints" like no other one I've used. I almost sold my chrome one before (size), and now am relieved that the sale didn't go through! As stated, I simply got a smaller 35 to take around when the 1.2 was too hefty, but when you don't mind taking it out, the 1.2 will surely satisfy.
I think I saw a video recently with Eggleston using one.

I still don't know why sleepyhead sold me his. It's so great a lens that I now use the Nokton instead of a Summilux aspherical.

I think it is rather simple, the nokton 35/1,2 has a beautiful, unique signature: that is why we see so few used ones for sale.
I was fortunate to pick up a nice specimen just yesterday.
