Just back from the Post Office with three packages to ship out to RFF buyers. Post Office is closed for the Bush funeral. Not sure I get why, but that's another matter. Trying to let the buyers know I was slowed down in messaging them by the 1 message per minute rule. Can this be reduced?

But it would still only take a little over 2 minutes to send 3 short messages. You must be in quite a hurry!

There was a survey made a while back for user suggestions to be incorporated into the “new” and glitchless rff which was coming someday. I think the issue you have here was mentioned. Any talk of the new and improved site software has seemed to have quietly disappeared. Too many suggestions perhaps.

Sounds a lot like the one minute rule in the Search function also. I've seen other forums with the same rule.

I suspect its a feature of VBP or PhpPortals or whoever it is that designs the forum software.

It’s designed to annoy spammers who might hijack the PM system but the software here is rather ancient, spammers have long since moved on to more fertile locales

Without a trace of partisan or political intent – the reason why is the President of The Untied States declared an official day of mourning. There is ample precedent for such proclamations in American history. Here is a list:

Gerald Ford (2007)
Ronald Reagan (2004)
Richard Nixon (1994)
Harry S. Truman (1972)
Dwight D. Eisenhower (1969)
John F. Kennedy (1963)
Franklin D. Roosevelt (1945)
Woodrow Wilson (1924)
William McKinley (1901)

Personally, I think the inconvenience of closing government offices and business activities (i.e. stock exchanges) is insignificant compared to honoring the Office of the President.

spammers sometime try sending as many PMs as fast as they can.
the time limit slows them down a lot.

Only ever encountered it a handful of times when really getting in a backnforth convo with a member. We could have just exchanged numbers and texted.

Seems like a easy way to keep spammers down as Stephen says.
