Chris Crawford,
Thanks for pointing that out. Japan's still the most expensive place I ever stayed.

Aykut, I see you are Canadian. Here in Vancouver the CV 21mm LTM sells new for $469 including viewfinder. If you live in another province then you only pay PST and shipping.
This seems pretty reasonable compared to some of the prices for used lenses in this thread.

Yep, Roger, meant the Orion 12 28/6. Like this one:

Roland.
Dear Roland,
Sorry, yes, of course f/6. The only f/6 lens I know! Close enough to both f/5.6 and f/6.3.
Cheers,
R.

Aykut, Dave has a good point here.
You get a whole bunch of things with an old wide angle, some, like lower contrast, center/corner resolution fall-off, you might want, others, like vignetting, barrel distortion, coma, etc., you might not want.
I find contrast much easier to control via exposure, film and filters, than via lens choice. Easier to make a modern lens look "classic", than vice versa .... Just my additional 2 cents ....

Hi Roger! The Nycore lens I just made is f/6 almost exactly. The single plastic element comes from Arby's toy binoculars.

Dear Chris,
Yes, and after I wrote that, I realized that there were some portrait lenses from the 1920s or thereabouts that were f/6.
Cheers,

Well I bought 15mm from an RFF member and I will see what will be the next one...
So what would you suggest to your experience: I have 15mm, 35mm and 50. Shall I buy 21mm or 24/25mm?

Believe me there is no socialist labor market here, and workers earnings are on average in the Western part of Europe.Understand Germany has some of the highest labor costs in the world due to the socialist nature of the labor market there.
When products are not longer manufactured in Germany it's for the same reason why others are no longer made in USA, or in Japan. They are cheaper to make in China or Mexico, often by the same company, it's that simple.

Anything can be made cheaper in China. If its made in a high wage country like Germany its for reasons other than cost. Maybe quality, maybe market (customers demand it made in Germany), maybe the business owner is patriotic and refuses to outsource (yes I have met business owners while doing commercial work who feel this way, at least in the USA). Maybe some other reason, but not costs.

I wish those Nikon to M adapters weren't so damn expensive. I picked up a 21mm f/2.8 for cheap that was having problems mounting to a Nikon body, but it works fine on my F-EOS adapter. Once I add $80 for the Leica adapter (plus more for a finder), I could probably find a CV lens for the same cost :-\

As mentioned above, much cheaper is a SLR>LTM mount.I wish those Nikon to M adapters weren't so damn expensive.
A. Try to find a "Novoflex LeiNik", à moitié fini
B. screw a LTM>M adapter on it. Ça y est.
