Wides for NEX 7?

The sigma would be great, but it's not *that* wide on a crop sensor, my kit zoom for the NEX is wider (18mm).
I might just stick with the kit zoom and see if its wide enough for me.

Ergo, he is looking for a 15mm (or lower) for the NEX.

The Sigma 2.8/19 is a 28mm equivalent.

The Sony 16mm lens may be cheap, but it's one of the few lenses I've ever purchased that I found to be simply unacceptable.

Alright, here is my report on the 15mm(22.5mm equivalent) on NEX-7, I have to say I am pretty happy with it since I shoot mostly black and white, and with color the corner color shifting problem doesn't really bother me, here are a few example and an easy fix in LR if you don't want to deal with cornerfix:
1. First picture is the original, I use this one because the purple corner is very visible:

2. Removed Purple in Lightroom (Color->Purple->reduce Saturatio to -100, only works if there are no other purple that you want to keep in your picture:

3. After removing Purple, go to Lens Corrections->Lens Vignetting, rised the Amount to 80, reduce Midpoint to 20, this pretty much solved the vignetting issue, but there are still red at the corner, which to me is not a big deal:


If you shoot mostly black and white like me, then it is even easier!
1. convert the original to black and white:

2. Go to Lens Corrections->Lens Vignetting, reduce the Amount to 85, and reduce Midpoint to 20, I usually don’t adjust this much, but here I just want to show that vignetting can be easily removed, incase that does bother you:

If you take an image of a flat white or light grey wall - you can create a photoshop or lightroom action to correct the corners using a blending layer. I ended up doing that with the CV 21mm. Works well.

The simplest way now to fix purple corners from WA rangefinder lenses is to shoot a few frames of a totally white well lit cardboard as used in picture mounting with the specific WA lens.
Import the image file into LR 4, having uploaded the FlatField plug-in from Adobe before, and click on the white cum purple corners WA lens image in the develop mode under 'file', 'plugin extras', 'DNGFlatField', 'apply interleaved correction'.

This takes about one split second and cleans the image off its purple corners. Practice a few times and you will get perfect images from your prized Leica and Zeiss WA lenses!

Oops, i forgot to post an example with the NEX 7, Adobe's FlatField plugin in LR and Contax G 28 mm Zeiss lens.

The first pic shows the image out of camera (purple edges, corners), the second the FlatField corrected pic and the last the CZ 28 mm lens reference image of a white board at f/8.

I would like to give these images titles, but I have never uploaded anything here, so we shall see how this comes out. Sorry.

I noticed with my NEX-6 16-55mm lens that when I open the RAW files of wide angle shots, I get black corners. Adobe fixes this if I set the lens profile, but it makes me think you really can't go wider than 16mm.

Then again, FF lenses have a larger image circle, so maybe they would work.
