Will a LTM J-12 with adapter work in an M mount camera?

Why insult?

A cheap 35mm, just for kicks... Although I like my J12!

And yes, it will! Just get a LTM-M adapter, and mount it.... Worked on my M2 and M3. Might be a problem with metered bodies, though, so YMMV....

In short, unmetered M bodies should be OK with the Jupiter 12.

No problem at all. In the past two days I shot half a dozen rolls with the J12 on my M2.

is the J8 useable on a R2?
or will it protrude too deep and touch the shutter curtains as cautioned?

ahh.. okok.. looks like i'll get 1 then... anyone selling??? :)

The J8 doesn't have a bulgy rear element, unlike the J12. It is this bulgy rear element that can cause problems with the J12. It can block the light meter, can cause the J12 not to mount, or cause the shutter curtains to hit the lens' glass. However, you won't run into any of these problems with a meterless Leica M or the Russian FEDs or Zorkis.
