Will a Nokton 50/1.5 block the viewfinder in a Bessa-R?

Hi, I have two questions, one more trival than the other 😉

Since the Nokton 50/1.5 has a 52mm filter thread, will it block the viewfinder on the Bessa-R? It looks awfully close in some pictures I've seen. If it blocks than maybe I should be looking for a Canon lens in LTM.

Have been doing indoor photography with Superia (works well for the 35/2.5 Color Skopar) and would like a clean handheld speed as much as possible.

My other (more trival 🙂 ) question is how does a black Nokton look like on a Silver Bessa-R body? Anyone have pics?

Hi,
The lens is visible in the corner of the finder. However, I have not found this a problem. I can't show yot a pic of mine because I have a black body. However, for many years most 35mm SLRs etc had chrome tops and black lenses. It will certainly look better than the other way round.

The jupiter 3 is another options and is tiny (the size of a jupiter 8). Its a bit hard to get your hands on a good one, but overall they are great little lenses.

The nokton 50/1.5 takes. I guess, 15% of your viewfinder if you use its shade. Much less if you don't. I have had no problems at all with composing, with or without shade. I have a silver nokton on my silver bessa, but a black lens does seem ok to me. I just ordered a black 28 color-skopar at Stephen Gandy's.

I don't own a CV 50 Nokton, but I do have a Canon 50 f/1.2 LTM, and that lens mounted on the Bessa-R is completely inobtrusive with the 50mm framelines. It's also clear out of the way on my Leica M6.

People complain that the Canon 50 f/1.2 is "huge", but they designed it very well so that it's clear out of your 50mm framelines. It has a 55mm filter thread.

The Nokton, however, is somewhat longer than the Canon 50 1.2, I believe.

Nokton WILL block your R viewfinder. Shooting outdoors, a hood is a MUST! which block more, more annoying!

Haha.. thanks guys for the advice. Dan thanks for the offer, I live in Singapore, and tt's kinda far from LA 😉

Hmm.. so now I guess I should trawl around for a Canon 50/1.5/1.8/1.4 then... blocking the finder with the hood erm.. not sure I'd like that... hmm does it cover the 50mm framelines or just the view finder cus the 50mm framelines on the Bessa-R are slightly smaller.

I didn't have any problem using nokton om Bessa R, so if you prefer, you can buy a very good 50 1.8 canon LTM (but at full aperture nokton is better).

Once again, thanks for the posts. I'm getting mixed signals here. One says stay away from that combi but the other says its okay.

Are the 50mm framelines blocked on the finder? And is it a really substantial block? Why doesn't CV come up with a nice compact 50/1.8.

The Nokton 50/1.5 does undeniably block some space in the vf of the Bessa R within the framelines. I think it is a small inconvenience compared to its clearness and low-light capacities. But if you are afraid it is going to annoy you, look for another lens. About the nice compact CV 50/1.8: ask Mr. Kobayashi.
