Will a regular Luigi case fit an M8?

Surely someone here happens to own an M8 and a non-M8 Luigi case... Will it fit? If so, how well?

What I want to know is whether a regular Luigi case, not made for the M8, will fit an M8. I would guess it would be tight in the back, what with the LCD etc. back there, but there's nothing like a real world test.

I don't mess with the controls back there much (auto-iso I've found to work well) and keep LCD review off.

Just wondering. Yeah, I know I can contact Luigi directly. I've spoke with him before and he's a wonderful man. But it's Sunday evening in Italy, and I'm impatient...

No you must get his M8 case and there are a couple of options regarding access to the back controls. The M8 is not the same size at the other M's. My M4 case is too thin for the M8, been there and tried that.

I have one and it is worth it.
 
The M8 is about 4mm thicker (front to back) when compared to any other M camera. You'll need to get an M8 case. As John points out, they are well worth the price.
 
Actually, the M8 will fit. I just got a Luigi MP case with grip and the M8 went right in, albeit tightly, with the back stretched over the screen. And I didn't use a mallet or any pig fat.

The incompatibility is not in the width or length at the baseplate, but only in the thickness of the camera from the screen protruding out the back. But that doesn't keep it out of the case.
 
The M8 baseplate is wider than the MP baseplate. It's not just the screen sticking out of the back that makes a difference.
 
A&A makes an M8 1/2 case, but by the time you've left room for the lens and front controls, and the back and its controls, it's more like a 1/8 case.

Can anyone enlighten me on why people buy fractional cases -- one half or less -- that make their cameras bulkier and slower handling (try reloading)?

Because I like attractive bodies tightly clad in leather :)

Well, I won't argue with you with regards to the measurements of the baseplates; I don't have a film M to compare to. Regardless, my M8 has been resting comfortably in a Luigi MP case for the past several days.

Oh, and with an 8GB SD card, I don't have to "reload" very often. As to why I like the case, well it provides a bit of protection, and with the built in grip, improves the handling of the camera considerably, especially with the lack of the advance lever to rest the right thumb against.

Yes, I've seen A&A's case. I love their straps, but found the M8 case rather unattractive. To the contrary, Luigi's case is quite attractive. George at kameraleder makes wonderful cases as well, but he hasn't yet made an M8 case.
 
I also vote for the Luigi case. I bot it for both protection and handling. I had the m8 grip and it just didn't feel comfortable....to me. Others love it.
