Will DiMAGE SCAN DUAL IV run with Windows 7 ?

I have a Minolta DiMAGE Scan Dual IV scanner and run the software which came with. I'm more than happy with this software and really don't want to change. I run it on an old PC and Windows XP. I think I am right in saying that it would not work with Windows VISTA but will it work with Windows 7 ?

It's looking like time to upgrade my PC but I really don't want to lose this software. Any input on this will be much appreciated.

This is not an answer to your question, but my Scan Dual III worked with Vista without problems.

Thanks. I have never actually tried it with Vista - never needed to - but I just seem to remember that I read somewhere that it wouldn't work.

If all else fails there are, at least, two options. Pay for one of the third-party scanner software programs, or run Win-XP in a a Virtual-Machine on your Win7 computer and put the Minolta software in there.

I went thru the same process with my SD IV when I upgraded (?) from XP to W7. My experience was that it would not work with the original software. There is a work around that I tried, but it was a little problematic. I ended up with Vuescan Pro. It works. If you want the info for the work around, PM me and I will email you the process.

I recently bought a Minolta 5400 and got it working on Windows 7 64bit.

Follow the instructions in Solution 5 - it worked a treat for me!

As he says it should work for all models listed in the .inf file.

Thanks for the info, Simon. I'd read that solution before, but I wasn't sure how well it would work with 64bit Windows. I just upgraded (surpassed the 3gb ram limit) and will be trying that once I get my Scan Elite II back from a friend.

This was asked about before. The answer was a definate maybe. I have WIn 7 64 bit and tried everything offered. Finally gave up and bought Vuescan.
