Will Jupiter-12 on M5?

Well this is my question. Will a Jupiter -12 35mm f/2.8 fit and work properly on my M5. I understand that I must use it with a 35/135 Leica M to 39mm LTM adapter.
What I'm worried about is the rear glass element of the Jupiter-12 as it a non retrofocus design and the rear glass actually prodrudes very much beyond the rear lens mount. The M5 has the CDS meter cell which raises as the shutter is cocked, and lowers before the first curtain opens.
I am hoping that with the M to 39mm LTM adapter that this moves the lens outwards by just enough to allow the lens to mount and to work normally without ever hitting the camera's CDS cell or the shutter curtain. I would not wan't to damage my M5, and also I would not wan't to damage the Jupiter-12.
Is there an M5 user who has used the Jupiter-12 without causing damage, if so could you let me know so I can relaxe and order the lens.
Thank you in advance for your help.
I have read that this is a good lens and at the moment I am low on funds so I think this one will work forme.

No it hit's the metering stalk

No it hit's the metering stalk

Well I did a little more reading and found the answer myself.

It hits the metering stalk and I would not risk my M5 on this lens so I cannot purchase it.

Anyone have any other suggestions for an inexpensive wide 28 or 35mm lens in LTM or preferably M mount to use on my M5?

I have a jupiter 12 and wouldn't try it on my m5.
The rear element projects far into a standard M body and I'm sure it would hit the meter arm on a m5.
A Voigtlander 28 or 35 lens is another option that may fit your needs. The next step up from these would be a Zeiss 28 or 35 lens, which are twice the price of the CV lenses however well worth it IMO.

It will fit but wont meter and you need to remove part of the 35mm adapter ring...

Leitz had several lenses which would interfere with the M5 meter cell so they designed the meter cell so that it would not swing with these lenses. Part of the mount tells the M5 not to swing the cell. Any 21mm or 28mm from pre '71 or so may not have been modified and you should check before mounting such a lens or you may need your camera repaired. (many lenses will have been modified as leitz did it for free during service as an option, (like lens coding for M8).

You will need a file and skill or a friendly skilled metal worker.

Bigfoot & Bubba work quite well with 28mm lenses from Konica, Minolta and Komura-LTM. They also work well with 35mm lenses from Canon and Konica in LTM mount.

You may want to keep an eye out for a Canon 28/3.5 ltm lens. Very small (will look miniature on an M5), plenty sharp (despite some net postings to the contrary), but does vignette a bit wide open and is a bit flare prone. But its small size and relatively low price make it very appealing. I like mine and love how tiny it is (it's what I carry in my Leica CL travel kit on the other end of a double-ended end cap from the Rokkor 90mm lens).

Thanks for the link Noel. I read it and I'm impressed with your knowledge. I appreciate the information. I will have to think about this. For two reasons. First I would do the lug filing myself and I'm ok with that. But I would first have to look through the back of my M5 when mounting the J-12 and the LTM/M 35/135 adapter. As of yet I don't have them so I cannot make the observation. I would also really have to study up on the 4th lug removal.
The second reason is loosing the metering with the J-12mounted. I actually like this idea as it will force me into the Sunny 16 method!
There is also the possibility that I will just save up for an inexpensive second hand Leitz 35mm f/2.8 Summaron lens.
