I would rather not spend $350-400 on sending my M3 to Angelfire (all else has not helped, including CLA by John Stelton) for re-silvering of the prism blah blah blah. I wonder if anyone has found the Leigoodies.com "Shade" helpful for a clear, but faded RF patch ? Or perhaps I misunderstand what needs to be fixed in the circumstances. :bang:

I think the shade is for flare, whereas you are looking to increase contrast. You might try dimming the viewfinder window with something (cleared film on front of the camera viewfinder) and see if that improves the patch contrast.

An alternative would be to sell your M3 and replace it with one that has a patch with good contrast. The M3 is not rare, and good ones can be found. My understanding is that there is often no satisfactory or cost-effective fix for a faded patch.

I have a shade for use on my M6TTL, and Ive had it on for a few months now, the thing actually works and does a very good job, only problem is that it darkens the RF patch also and your framelines.
Bottom line is that it does exactly what it says it does.
I took mine off recently and have been enjoying it without but yesterday and again today made me go put it back on.

Its vastly cheaper then a RF upgrade....
