Will the NEX-5 allow me to forget the R-D1s?

I sold my R-D1s a while back, but have always liked the idea of having a digital camera that took M lenses. For me, the only thing missing was AF -- for quick snaps, especially when handing the camera to a non-photog friend to take the picture.

The M 4/3 seemed perfect, but there was just something about it that wasn't quite right.

Then the NEX-5 came out... and now I am seriously tempted. The thought of my CV 35/1.2 on it or the 50mm Sonnar @ f1.5 is just too much to resist.

Anyone else have a serious case of NEX-5 GAS?

I agree, although I'm looking at the NEX as an addition to my R-D1, especially for travel. Having an AF zoom would be great, but then having the option to put on my 35/1.2 makes it even better. I'm kinda waiting for the rumored fall models, which will perhaps have an EVF.

Every once in a while the digital bug bites me, then I take a few hundred shots and then return to film. Digital is funny to play with, not more for me.

As to the NEX 5: I bought one, played with it, then sold it right away. Good little camera, maybe a bit too small to hold comfortably for manual focusing.

I guess the best way to cure GAS is to buy one and then move on.
