Will van Manen's M6 anti-flare solution

Oh well, do they give a discount on the broken parts that were left behind in the US? This gets quite a bit too exact to figure out completely :)

Small piece of tape, got that already. With black permanent marker smeared on top. If the polarizing filter isn't doing anything better than this, I can certainly skip it.

I'm an "old world guy", too, and have nothing against Will. That doesn't change the fact that it's a global economy now, and if Sherry or Steve could provide you an MP upgrade for less than what Will quotes you for a cheap plastic pol filter,

Do Shery and Steve a MP upgrade for less then 40 euro's?

Not untrue, what they try to ascertain is the value of new parts in the camera as soon as it returns in the EU. They won't levy duties on labourcost.

Ron,

This should be common across the EU, but the UK Customs charge VAT on parts + labour quoted by the repairer, so US repairs do get expensive. I would probably choose CRR or Malcolm Taylor - these could be useful resources for anyone in Europe too - no VAT in intra-EU deals, after all ;)

all so true John, considering what others have said, I think all the fuss / hassle (apart from any duties) is not worth to try it. In the OP's case I would go for a German option first (and bring the camera myself if possible) :)

What I would kill for is the contact info of a super-skilled Leica repairer in Berlin, but to my amazement, this capital of the Germanic world does not appear to have any (just trying to coax anyone to pop up and tell me I am totally wrong...)

$300 for the whole works including MP finder upgrade is really cheap. Sending to the US starts sounding like a good option. I'll just have to use my evil Nikon more during the turnaround period :)
