Just a reminder that if you're in Paris this week, you should catch the Willy Ronis exhibit at La Monnaie de Paris. It's a wide variety of photos from his life's work and I really enjoyed it. Exhibit ends August 22nd

Heyyyy Roger, I bought that book in les Ateliers in Arles. I read and re-read it about five times before I even got home on the train

I visited the exhibit in late july. It was horribly hot yet I had a great time... I really like Ronis' work!
As a side note, my wife bought the book, you're referring to Roger. Great read... I hope this collection expands.

Anyone thinking of buying the book should not be put off by the cover, which purports to show 'contacts' for Provençal Nude as 645 (or possibly half-frame) format numbered 17-18-19-23-24-25 (the 6x6 contacts are on page 96) or by the copyright claim of 2001 despite the date for legal deposition being given as 2010. Hoebeke needs to hire designers who at least understand a little about photography - or anything, really, though with distressingly many designers, this seems to be asking too much - and to take more care with their proof reading. I can't help feeling that if M. Ronis had seen the cover and the proofs, the book would have been even better. Frances said that sometimes it almost felt as if someone had said, "Well, he's just an old dead guy who only shot black and white, so who cares?"

Ouch, I hadn't noticed the mis-match between the copyright date and the legal date. The strange cropping for the cover bothered me too though, as it would match no film roll format I have ever seen.
In the foreword M.Ronis mentions that the book was gradually developed from illustrated presentations starting in Arles in 1993. Does anyone know if the book was printed and bound in an earlier edition too ?

I have been to exhibition of his work here in Prague in 2001 at French Institute and still have catalogue which I enjoy viewing from time to time.
Indeed, if you are around don't miss it.
