I just heard about this while watching the News...
I updated my Norton Internet Security but still trying to download any thing from Microsoft...
Have a Happy April Fools...

As I don't NEED to be on the computer or the Internet tomorrow, I'm updating today and turning off the computer until the morning of the 2nd. I spend too much time on the web anyway, and have a bunch of off-line tasks in the queue that need attention.

(I'm in the middle of 3 books, and it's almost warm enough to start the spring yard work)...

Mac user at home
Windows user at work
Girlfriend is a windows user in both places.

So.. with that said - Let me help you with respect to the "severity" of this worm.
The MS-0867 is the patch you're looking for from Microsoft.
If you patch your system regularly (as you happy-go-lucky Microsoft users should) then you should be already up to date as this patch was released WAY back in October.

The threat from this worm was identified a number of months ago (hence the patch) but all the media attention has made this out to be, potentially, bigger than what it likely will be. That said, better safe than sorry should be your motto.

Cheers,
Dave

I will not use this opportunity to gloat about the superiority of the mac in these instances.
I promise! 😉

True enough, but as they grow in market share they will become a tempting target. While the design of the MAC OS makes some threats for Windows tougher (or impossible) due to better OS level security, "social engineering" still works on the gullible...

And while I do have the proper patches already in place, these type of things is why I'm making a Ubuntu partition on my new PC to use for most of my web browsing. Business reasons dictate that I still need Windoze however.

Thanks! My son tells me he has his laptop set for automatic updates from MS so it should be done already.
