I don't think you guys have anything quite as silly as the mayor of Toronto.......yet.

We been having good old fashion winters these past few years, this winter a bit of an exception, admittedly. That aside, it means we get cold, snow (lots of it), little daylight (5-6 hours mid winter), and yet I love it.

Snow is white. White is clean, gives limitless opportunities, especially for B+W. Also, during periods of high pressure we can get the most dazzling sunrises and sunsets, good for colour. What's not to like? 😉

Cold? Put some clothes on, and forget trying to look like a million bucks.

Dark? Well, at least you can get some sleep. In readiness for endless sunlight during the summer.

Funny you should say that. The forests of west Alberta and the whole of BC are dying. The bark beetles are killing them off. The winters aren't cold enough anymore, so they aren't kept in check.

well i had wintet for three days this year so I can't complain but there is a serious lack of pure sunlight which is really important to me! I guess there will be sooner or later lemon trees in Austria 🙂

My favorite season is winter.

And since this is a photography forum - I should mention, the bulk of my photography is in the winter.

If you happen to live in London Definitely you'll HATE IT as I do . The reason it is raining cats and dogs. Very wet lot of humid and me I personally like to be very active with many more things on as a routing. But due to the winter I feel i can't get over with my photography due to the rainy whether . It is unexplainable as I love Paris and Having similar conditions but it is the gloomy grey light and the bloody rain that provokes the whole scenario. I believe London people are facing kind of Seasonal depressing during this winter period. I think I am suffering kind of this growing sickness.

I personally found European winters to be more depressing than the ones we get here (hard to imagine, I know 🙂 )
