Wish to buy an M3?

Those two articles should tell you what you want to know. Good luck!

William

I recently sold an M2 on ebay that I clearly described as needing service and that it was being sold "as is". The buyer read these 2 links after buying and wanted me to refund his money which did not happen.

The OP or anybody who plans to buy should read and fully understand the description and then ask the seller questions before making a purchase .

Never blindly buy because you can get stuck with an expensive camera that needs an expensive repair..

Just because the seller describes it as working does not mean it is working right.

Even worser

Even worser

When I was shopping for a 90mm 2.8 Elmarit, v. 1 with the black vulcanite at the base on the mount end, I ran across a lens in the completed listings. Less than a week later, I see the same lens listed again. The Seller explained that the first buyer returned the lens because he thought it was new and didn't know it was a used lens. How uninformed can some folks be? A new Leica lens from the 1950s or 1960s for $300 and change? Duh!

Anyway, I just posted a link to an ebay sale for an M3 and a Nikkor 85mm/2.0 lens. Also, there is at least one M3 in the classifieds here. If it hasn't sold already.

Good luck!

By the way. The B+W 43mm UV MRC filter I bought from you (kshapero
) last year works great on my Konica UC-Hexanon. I "borrowed" it from the Nikkor 50/1.4. I need another one. 😉

Same here. About 4 o'clock the sun went behind a cloud & I was convinced it would rain. It didn't. We had a nice sunset. I should have taken a camera with me to dinner. I coud've had a great picture of the sun behind a big thunderhead. It's been raining so much I didn't even think to pick up a camera. GRRRRRRRRRRR!

If you can look through the VF, see if it is clear, bright and the rangefinder aligns both vertically and horizontally. Also check the shutter speeds for correctness, stickiness. The shutter speeds are inexpensive to correct, but if the VF is lame in anyway, I would not buy it. The M3 has a great VF, especially for the 5cm lenses; if you love the 50mm focal length, do get a M3 with a fine VF and you will love it for the rest of your film shooting days!
