With the Pope having declared his resignation...

Off topic but I wonder what his retirement package looks like....

My wife reckoned it would have to include the red shoes. Interesting to see how he retires, and where. Does he, like a US president remain an His Holiness, and will he stay in the Vatican or Rome or even return to Germany which might be quite unfamiliar after so many years in Rome. The Vatican protocol officer will be up early and working late to iron out the details. Retiring to a convent is my bet.

Let´s get rid of that "Religion Hoopla" we in Finland go to SAUNA, throw water on the stones and from that we figure out what "God says" no need to popes,etc...

I brought my GA645zi with me to Italy in 2009, and here are a few church-themed images.

The Castel Sant'Angelo is an extension of the Vatican City. Here's St. Michael (Sant'Angelo) himself, protected by a serious lightning rod:

The Duomo of Florence:

And Michelangelo's "other" Pieta, at the Museo dell'Opera del Duomo, in Florence:

Although not as famous as his first Pieta, in St. Peter's, I prefer this one, made when Michelangelo was much older. Also, there isn't as huge a crowd in front of it, so you can take your time and study it and get better photographs.
