I recently came into a late Canon LTM 100 f3.5 lens. The glass is good -tested on a Live View camera and also by visible inspection - as are the general cosmetics. However the lens does not focus to infinity unless I pull with some force the entire lens toward the camera and hold it there tightly. There is a slight looseness of the silver mount in relation to the main body of the lens. Though slight it makes a significant difference in image quality unless held tightly against the camera body in an unnatural way.
When I unscrewed the optics I found some screws visible where the optics meet the lens body. I tighten them. However that made no difference.
Is there a way to fix this? Can I do it? If not, can someone do it, and, if so, who would you suggest as competent and reasonable in fee? I am in Chicago though I am in no way limited to using someone local.
