so, i'm all excited about my new 40/1.4 lens and i've been playing with it, on the cl, all night.
no film in the cl and time for bed, i figure i'll put film in the camera and hope it stops raining tomorrow long enough for a shot or 2.

after loading the camera and picking it up off the table, i notice what seems like a big honkin' screw on the table. no holes on the outside of the cl so i figure i'll hope for the best and check the inside of the camera when i take the film out.

then i dropped the screw...
:bang: :bang: :bang:

Screw, schmew. Whadda ya want? A camera with ALL the parts intact? shhheez. . . once I get a Zorki to 90% complete, I load it and head for the streets.

Have you never heard of the "small screw phenomenon", Joe? When reassembling any piece of kit you will have one or two small screws left over. You will then dismantle the item looking for the holes. You will find no holes and you will also now have more small screws. If you continue this process you will have many screws and be ready to be fitted for a long-sleeved jacket with rear fastenings. I used to reckon on having about five or six screws left over every time I reassembled a Toshiba laptop and they all worked perfectly.

Try searching for dropped miniature items that may not be magnetic,
slip an old ladies stocking over the hose end of a vacuum, go over the suspected area, it will be sucked up and still trapped in the "netting".

good luck,

You have a powerful flashlight ? Put it on the floor, light beam horizontal to it, move it circularly so that light reveals any imperfections or objects along its path.

Be also prepared to discover that you'll need to vacuum later 😱

Seriously, that works as a wonderful 'surface radar', on non-carpeted floors, of course...

That's a good idea. Will a young ladies stocking do as well? 😀

Joe - I feel your pain. Of course, when working on cars, I just always tell people I am so good I can save on parts as I always have some left over. 😱

Oh my god! I haven't been sleeping either since the beginning of this thread. Thanks for keeping us informed Joe!

Just kidding... I know exactly how you felt with this screw, scratching your head trying to find where the hell it could go!!
